The fuel cell stack, the heart of PM technology
The core of all Proton Motor fuel cell systems is our proprietary fuel cell stack. With over 20 years of experience in developing stacks, Proton Motor designs, develops and tests its own market leading stack technology.
The goal of our stack development is always to achieve the best possible performance while simultaneously maximizing service life:
Complex fluid-dynamic simulations are carried out in order to achieve optimum media and temperature distribution resulting in the most optimized performance.
We constantly monitor the supplier market and perform selection, testing and benchmarking of the latest technologies in order to be able to implement the latest state of the art in our stack technology. In close cooperation with major international manufacturers, the core components bipolar plates, GDL (gas diffusion layer) and MEA (Membrane Electrode Assembly) are manufactured especially for Proton Motor according to our specifications.
Each stack is subjected to extensive testing procedures, both in Proton Motor’s own test field and at external research facilities, to prove and ensure the performance and longevity of our stacks.
Currently there are two stack formats in the Proton Motor portfolio which seamlessly cover the range from 3 kWel. to 75 kWel.:
