In cooperation with the DB Bahnbaugruppe, Proton Motor delivered Fuel Cell emergency power supply systems for telecommunication towers of civil service agencies. The Fuel Cell and hydrogen storage is integrated into specially designed outdoor cabinets. As this application required a high level of security, the cabinets are certified according to the RC-4 vandalism class.
The systems have an electrical power output between 4 and 8 kW and an output voltage of 3 x 320 VAC. The combination of the Fuel Cell and batteries allows uninterruptible power supply even during long power failures. The amount of hydrogen stored on site is sufficient to provide bridging times of up to 72 hours.
